History:

The course was first established in 1891 when Old Tom Morris of St. Andrews discovered its potential and is accredited for its initial design. During the turn of the century it became somewhat of a place of pilgrimage for golfers. Over the years changes have been made to the course by other prominent golfing names including Harry Vardon and James Braid who added more length to the course but knew that it was already of such a high calibre there was little left to do. More dramatic changes occurred in 2009 when the back nine were replaced and are now played as the front nine. These holes were laid out by Pat Ruddy and offer excellent views across Mulroy Bay. Although the difference in age of the two halves of the course is vast the transition between the two is seamless and is a real credit to all involved. Rosapenna is set in a beautiful location along the coastline of Tramore beach which overlooks Sheephaven Bay as well as stretches of stunning sand dunes. There is also another course at Rosapenna which is the Sandy Hillscourse.
